Festivals
Visitors like to combine their holiday with a visit to an impressively staged opera or operetta. The Opera Festival in St. Margareten or the Lake Festival of Mörbisch draw thousands of visitors every year. But smaller productions around the lake are also gaining in popularity. Ranging from cabaret shows, musicals and rock to theatre and operetta, venues span Burgenland from Parndorf as far as the Hungarian village of Fertörákos.

Please find a list of the most important festivals below:

Stone Quarry St. Margareten
The Esterházy Private Foundation and the St. Margareten Opera Festival together stage masterpieces of opera in a newly adapted part of the quarry.

Haydn Festival Eisenstadt
The name of Joseph Haydn is forever linked with Eisenstadt. Haydn worked for over 40 years at the Court of Prince Esterházy as a conductor, composing most of his masterpieces here. Many original settings - like Haydn Hall, famous for its acoustics - are still preserved today and offer an elegant backdrop. In 2011, new approaches were explored, though the listening experience remains top priority.
